Have you seen "Mad Men" yet? It's on AMC (check your local listings) and everyone here at 2M is addicted. The show is set in the 1960's and is about advertising executives working on Madison Avenue (ad men...on Madison Avenue = Mad Men). Now, the show may not be for those with delicate sensibilities (it is, after all, broadcast at 10pm...so it's not for kids) but it's a realistic, honest look at the cutthroat world of advertising of yesteryear. You can read more about it in this recent NYT article.
The premise of the show (according to their website): The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper, the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.
Check it out!
